A Friend of Soul

A Baul-Jazz Fusion

A Baul-Jazz Fusion

A Baul fakir, a saxophone, and the soul’s own undoing, all on one unbroken drone.

I built it as a Bengali mystic, Baul-Sufi jazz piece: one continuous pulse, bass drone and khamak holding steady while dotara, esraj, and trumpet rise and fall around a weathered fakir baritone. The lyric moves through unconsciousness, lost direction, and the bondage of the soul toward the threshold of Shah Makhdum, half-prayer, half-surrender. It is about the pull that breaks you down until the dead rise and the living die.

The arrangement was built with AI. The lyric and the tune are mine.
